Being Cute

23 Mar 2010 In: Beliefs, Random

When I was younger, I was never told I was anything in terms of appearance but weird or even ugly. I was never “cute.” My mom never squished me saying, “I love you! You’re so adorable!” No one ever noticed me. I was literally in the shadows.

Now that I’m older, I’m amazed to find how many notice me.

Recently, “cute” has been the compliment I receive almost daily. My boss, my mom, my old friends, new friends, random people I’ve just met. I’m cute. And I can’t begin to describe how happy that makes me. :)

I was massively caught off guard recently by two people by being called cute. It’s amazing how one word can have a completely different connotation between two people.

The first has become a recent and wonderful friend of mine. He told me I was too cute to be intimidating and that, if he were to run into me in a dark alley with a gun, he’d probably hug me and say, “You’re so cute!!!” He also told me I was the type of person that would never have to worry about being attacked by someone as others would see me, think I was adorable and innocent and would immediately stand up for me. Oddly, all of that made me feel so happy and loved. More than anything, it made me feel special.

Weirdly enough, that same night, I was hit on by a guy I had literally just met. That has absolutely never happened to me. “I like your curly hair!” “Eh. It’s…” “A pain? A lot of my curly haired friends tell me they’d prefer straight hair, but I love curls.” “I grew my hair long because I love them too. I also like red hair,” he said looking at me smiling. “Hah, yea, I love having red hair.” “Is it natural?” “Not so much. My hair’s a little darker than this.” “Oh, but it’s really pretty. You look really cute.”

I melted. I wasn’t attracted to him in the very least, but I melted.

My ex used to tell me that my cuteness made me sexy. I’m confidant. I’m funny and adorable, according to those around me, and I love that about myself.

I don’t know of a lot of people that would appreciate that comment as much as me, but when someone tells me I’m cute, I just end up with smiles for the next week. It makes me too happy to even express some times. :)

25 and Faith

9 Feb 2009 In: Random, Religion, School

I’m going to start out with posting 25 random facts about myself, as I was “tagged” by both Lauren and Heather. Then, I’m going to ramble on about faith. Prepare yourselves, readers, this might be a long one. ;)

1. I actually started biting my nails because my childhood best friend did and I wanted to be like her.
2. The first song I can remember learning that wasn’t a children’s song (Sharon, Lois and Bram, Muppets, Sesame Street, etc.) is Waterfall by TLC, a song I still love.
3. I “dated” my now almost older/younger (he seems older, but he’s actually younger) brother when I was like 7, and after that, he was like “instantly popular” at school. *giggles*
4. The first boy I had a crush on, I didn’t even get the courage to tell until about 8 years later (the last day at school before he moved to a different state).
5. I think pregnant bellies look strange and they kind of bother me.
6. I’m so organized some times that I have to force myself to go a week to let things look more “typical.”
7. My favorite Disney princess (human) is Belle, but I always saw myself more as a Cinderella.
8. I can go years without drinking caffeine, and then will have a week where I only drink Mt. Dew.
9. A bright purple armadillo named Frederick resides in the front of my car. He was a gift from my brother when he lived in Texas.
10. Although my brother and I have always been close, these days I feel like his wife means more to me.
11. When I was younger, I had always wished and hoped for a sister. Now that I’m older, I find that Lauren’s little sister has filled that void.
12. I consider Lauren to be like a twin that I never had, and my friend Emma is the big sister I always wanted.
13. When I have children, I would give anything in the world for twin girls, though it will never happen as twins have never happened in me or Mike’s families.
14. I plan on getting married around 23 and having kids somewhere around 28, and Mike feels exactly the same.
15. One of my most cherished possessions is a scrapbook style photo thing I received last summer during Seussical from the only kid I’ve ever thought of as a “little brother”’s mother. I danced with his little sister for two years and love the entire family.
16. I have only ever had a second “family” once before Mike and Lauren truly moved into my life, and I the only member of that family I have even seen in about a year is the youngest sister.
17. I always forget to empty my contact case and will some times go a month or more without changing the solution (I know, that’s really bad XD).
18. I used to collect trophies like crazy because I wanted to have more than my brother. I ended up with like 8 more and for that were roughly two and three times larger than his largest. *loser*
19. When my family first moved into this house, my brother and I would roller blade all around the basement in the winter.
20. I used to make dollhouses for my Barbies out of cardboard boxes. I recommend it to anyone. :cute:
21. Since my boyfriend convinced me to solve a Rubik’s cube, I have been totally and completely addicted to solving them.
22. I am a hair dye addict, and am incredibly proud of it. I’ve been dying my hair since I was 12, and I don’t regret it at all.
23. I have a standing lamp that barely even works in my room simply for the purpose of holding scarves, hats, belts and necklaces. (Poor lamp…)
24. I love making hand made room decorations. I have one that’s a black picture frame that says “Inspire” on it that’s filled with Dove dark chocolate wrappers. Another one I love is a root beer bottle that has bright pink fake flowers and a plume from marching band in it.
25. I have a huge and AMAZING desk in the corner of my room that I have only ever used for Christmas cards and presents for Mike.

*phew* That was actually easier than I thought it would be. o.o Now, I specifically tag Georgina because she always gets tagged, I love her and I think it’d be funny to see what she has to say. XD I also tag anyone who wants to do it. :) It only took me 10 minutes and it was fun! :D

Faith…there are very, very, very few parts of Christianity I believe in. I don’t care if someone thinks I’m going to hell. I’ve been told that by many people, and that’s fine if they think that. I’ve been approached by people who “want to help me right my life” and who lecture me, and I think it’s totally fine that they believe that. However, I don’t think it’s fine how often I get basically told that I’m a horrible person for believing what I do. I’m happy, and it just breaks my heart how people can’t be okay with that.

Now, that’s not the faith I wanted to talk about, I wanted to talk about having faith in yourself. Faith in your friends, family. And most importantly, faith in people. My boyfriend and I had a little tiff about this earlier in the week and it really hurt my feelings how much he hated this belief of mine.

Why should anyone have faith in people?

Honestly? When I was watching the Girls Next Door, they went to New Orleans, which, as we all probably know, was hit by Hurricane Katrina. If you compare New Orleans from after that horrific event to now, it was people that changed it so drastically. Obviously, there is still more work to be done in other parts of it, but still. People changed it. People gave money. People went down to build houses. I just wish he could see faith even a portion the way I do.

I am pretty far from being an idealistic person, and this is kind of out of what would be normal for “Hannah”. But faith means so much to me. I have faith that I will keep myself from doing something I shouldn’t. I will keep myself happy, and I have faith that Mike will always be by my side. Call me idealistic if you want, but I believe three words sum up most of my life: Hope, Joy and Faith. Ironically, those are the middle names of the three female Gosselin sextuplets. :)

If I must say, they sure did an amazing job picking out names. Those three words make me cry some times when I think of how much they have helped me in my life. I’ve thought of writing many poems dedicated to them and never managed to finish one because I was afraid to put so much of myself in something.

But now I’m rambling. It’s almost midnight and I need to e-mail my adviser about dropping that class. :D Yes, mother is totally fine with me dropping it as long as it doesn’t effect my grades or my status as a full time student (which it should do neither). I also wanted to get another fanlisting up before bed. I have two left on my upcoming list. ^_^

Oh! I almost forgot last time! My lovely friend, Hannah, created a fanlisting for me! I totally forgot to plug it last time as I was so out of it. :P Soo…here it is! :D

Hannie, the Hannah Fanlisting

Hannah, dearest, if you’re reading this, thank you so much. It really means a lot to me, and the fanlisting itself is just perfect. :) *tear*

Until later lovelies. (I seem to be getting back into the groove of blogging! :D HOORAY!)

So, seriously, the last two weeks have been sooo nuts!

My site was hacked earlier this week, but I had a back-up handy (and will now be taking one every time I make any sort of update), as was Lauren’s and Heather’s. I am certain that it was through Wordpress as absolutely nothing else was remotely effected and I’m pretty sure it had something to do with the server I’m on at Netrillium. Now, if you’re hosted by Netrillium, I’m not telling you to go run and switch hosts. Please, don’t. However, if you are reading this and run your site on Wordpress on any server, I recommend you take regular back-ups. You may never get hacked, but you just might! Or something else might happen. Either way, having a back-up is quite handy! :)

My classes started this week and they are, so far, quite easy! :D I’m in an introduction to Visual Basics class as well as an introduction to Networking and such. Both are really cool so far. :) However, I discovered that the next class I need (following my VB class), my brother failed because of the teacher. And he’s more computer savvy when it comes to programming. I’m the webdesigner. He’s the programmer.

Aside from those two major events, I’d like to talk about the amazing night I had on Saturday! :cute:

It was supposed to be a movie night with Mike. However, when I arrived to his house somewhere around four, his father informed us that they had something to go to and wouldn’t be home. Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem, but my mother was also gone, his sister was planning on leaving and his brother was off at school. Lovely.

Eventually, we concoct another one of our “ingenious” plans and decide that, since his sister wouldn’t be leaving until after his parents, we’d tell them when they got back that she had just left (if they asked). An hour or two passed watching great television and enjoying each others company until we got crazy hungry. It was great. We were watching this lovely Heath Ledger film, the Brother’s Grimm, and my stomach started grumbling like crazy. I don’t think it would have been as funny if the film hadn’t been really dark (yet humorous) and a little bloody at the end. I was like, “Gore makes me hungry?”

That’s when we decided on a trip to KFC aka the greatest fast food EVER! :D If you didn’t already know, my absolute favorite food in the entire world is chicken. So KFC is kind of like heaven. We got so much food that when we finished eating, we couldn’t do anything but lay down on opposite sides of the couch while watching Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (good stuff!). It was so funny! When his parents came home, they had to be wondering what we had eaten as we looked sick to our stomachs. But the beauty of it was that, although our stomachs hurt a bit, we felt AWESOME! :D Biscuits, chicken, mashed potatoes (not me, I hate potatoes), gravy…oooh awesome. :D

Well, I got tagged by my lovely friend Georgina, so here it goes! :D I maybe spent a minute on this so excuse the poor drawing. Oh! And I tag Heather and Lauren. I don’t really have anyone else I think would actually do it. :P

1. Draw a Bunny (or more)
2. Post it to your blog with the rules
3. Name three other bloggers that should draw a bunny

You can draw your bunny however you like. Use pencil and paper, a drawing tablet or just your mouse. It doesn?t matter. It also doesn?t matter if it looks crappy or not. The important thing is the bunny!

My bunny’s name is Bunny and it is in honor of Bubbles the Powerpuff Girl as there are at least two episodes where she hops around like a bunny saying, “Bunny, bunny, bunny, bunny!” It’s adorable. :D This bunny has super powers and enjoys a crunchy carrot on her day off. :)

So my Emma’s wedding was absolutely beautiful. And I mean beautiful. She looked perfect, Mike looked gorgeous in his suit, Rob looked handsome (…for once), and we (the bridesmaids) actually looked great! :)

But the wedding came and went, and then came the reception (the best part in my opinion). We ate amazing food, did a little dancing, and then came the bouquet toss. I’m the type of girl that believes you should absolutely not steal the bouquet from someone, rip it out in front of someone, trip someone, et cetera. The proper bouquet “winner” is the one the bouquet went to. And in this case, that person would be me. haha

I seriously couldn’t believe it. It went right to me. I reached up (it was slightly in front of my face) and just grabbed it! I actually didn’t even think about it. It was as if Mike had dropped his phone and I reached out to get it. Emma, of course, was beaming that I got it. I don’t think she purposely threw it to my side, but it’s possible. However, I did catch it and I am apparently next? :P Mike wasn’t uncomfortable about it.

Oh! And then for the garter toss (or fling rather?). Rob did it and it went right to Mike! However, this guy reached in front of him and snatched it. I was absolutely pissed. You do not do that. The person it goes to is the proper winner. But regardless, then the punk had to put it on me, which made me very uncomfortable, and I got to keep that and the bouquet! :D I felt so cool with my two bouquets and garter. I’m for sure wearing it when I get married. It can be my something old I guess, as I won’t be getting married for a few years at least.

Today Mike and I had rehearsal for Guys and Dolls, which lasted for like five hours. Plus, when we took pictures after the wedding, we were outside for over an hour in the freezing so I was feeling (and am still actually) incredibly, incredibly sick. The rehearsal really dragged on and by the time we left, I was about ready to collapse. But that’s okay because I have theatre tomorrow! :cute: I love that class.

That’s really all I have to say and why I didn’t bother blogging yesterday. I knew I wouldn’t have much to say today. :P

I’m off to double check my syllabus for English to make sure I’m not missing anything for class tomorrow, and then going to bed!

Goodnight, my loves! Thanks so much for the sweet comments! :)

Questions:
1. Have you ever completely forgotten about a major homework assignment for school? What was it?
2. Have you read the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer (simply curious)?
3. What is your favorite book series?
4. Would you like to see what my favorite books are and what I recommend to various people?

I really am. I find that when I have a day that I don’t blog, I feel totally like I did nothing all day.

So here I am, blogging! :)

I started working on a little writing project. It might end up being longer than I think, but right now I have like a fourth of a page on something that is totally minor to the plot. I can’t wait to write it all, I’m really loving it so far. It’s so neat to see one of my dreams come to life! (yes, I dreamt this plot line and now I’m filling in the blanks of what I didn’t actually see, but know happened in there somewhere) The only hint I will give you is “dogs”. You can take that and look at it any way you want, but you’ll never figure it out. :D

I’ve also been so inspired that I wrote quite a few new reads I hope you will enjoy. :cute: I’m still determined to expand the Hannah and Dottish sections, and I’ve also worked on that a little bit. Check out the Dottish section for something a little new. :)

I have a short play I have to write for my theatre class, which should be really fun, and I might let you guys read it depending on how into it I get. Sometimes I’m a really good writer, and other times I’m a sleepy writer, if you know what I mean. Right now I’m kind of playing with little plot lines in my head. It’s only like four pages, so that kind of stinks, but I’m thinking I’ll make a short version and then write out a much longer version.

Wow, I’m actually really freaking tired. Hm. I’m skipping my algebra class tomorrow because I haven’t slept through the night for almost a month now, and I’m really hoping that I’m so exhausted today that I’ll sleep forever. See, I love that Algebra is my only Tues/Thurs class. Mostly because I know enough Algebra to get A’s in two years of this class at the rate we’re going. We have only been learning a concept a week, or a week and a half. Matter of fact, I missed all last week and the Thursday before due to my surgery, and I only missed one concept. And we spent all of this past Tuesday reviewing everything we did while I was gone (can anyone say wow?). The best part is that I looked through the book, and every concept we are going to be learning for the next (okay, really the rest of the class) few weeks I know like the back of my hand. There were two concepts earlier in the year that I needed a little refresher in, but once I got a tiny refresher I was totally back to where I was and knew it all again. :geek: I feel like such a dork. I love math. *squish*

Oh, and another website thing. Right now, I can’t stop dreaming of owning a .nu. I have one in particular that I would die to own, so, maybe if I get another job by the time this site expires (next July), I’ll get to finally buy the name I’ve wanted for a few years.

I’m off to sleep. I can’t even hold myself up I’m so tired. :P Gnight my loves!! :D

(in response to the questions:
1. Thank you so much for all the kind responses! They totally boosted my confidence.
2. I am definitely adding my best ones (not drawings but designs) tomorrow and hopefully you all will enjoy them!
3. I may write my story I’m working on week by week…I’m still debating. It depends on how long it turns out to be. ;)
4. Ugh, I guess I’ll keep them. I’ll try plugging them a bit more.
5. I will be adding more of these! :D I’m really excited that you like them, because I like them and think they make my site very…well…me.

And there was something else I wanted to say, but I’m so tired I forgot what it was…hm. Whatever!)
